Ingredients
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 100g chicken breast, diced
  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk or water
  • 1 tablespoon butter or cooking oil
  • For decoration:
  • 1 slice of cheese (cheddar or provolone)
  • 1/4 sheet nori (seaweed)
Instructions
  1. Prepare the fried rice: Heat 1/2 tablespoon of butter or oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add the diced chicken and cook until browned. Add the mixed vegetables and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add the cooked white rice, ketchup, and soy sauce to the pan. Mix well, breaking up any clumps of rice, and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the rice is heated through and flavors are combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Shape the bear: On a serving plate or in a wide bowl, form the fried rice into a bear shape. Create an oval shape for the body/head. Use small portions of rice to form two ears on top of the head and two small paws at the front.
  4. Make the omelet: In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs with milk or water, a pinch of salt, and pepper until well combined. Heat the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of butter or oil in a clean non-stick pan over medium-low heat.
  5. Pour the egg mixture into the pan. Cook gently without stirring until the edges are set and the center is mostly set but still slightly moist and glossy. This should result in a soft, pliable omelet.
  6. Drape the omelet: Carefully slide the cooked omelet over the bear-shaped rice, positioning it like a blanket covering the bear's body, leaving the head and paws exposed.
  7. Decorate the bear's face: Using a small cookie cutter or a knife, cut a triangular shape from the cheese slice for the bear's muzzle. Place it on the rice face.
  8. With kitchen scissors or a nori punch, cut small circles or ovals from the nori for the eyes, a tiny triangle for the nose, and a curved line for the mouth. Also, cut thin strips or small shapes for the paw details. Carefully place these nori cutouts onto the cheese and rice to complete the bear's face and paw details.
