Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ChefAI (the "Service"), operated by ChefAI ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

ChefAI lets you upload photos of food and receive AI-generated recipes (including ingredients, instructions, estimated prep time, difficulty, and estimated calories), save recipes to a personal library, organize them into collections, build a weekly meal plan, and generate combined shopping lists.

2. Accounts

You need an account to save recipes, build meal plans, and generate shopping lists. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and promptly update it if it changes. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

3. Subscriptions and Billing

ChefAI offers a free tier and a paid "Pro" subscription billed at €8/month through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us (via Stripe) to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

  • Free tier: a limited number of photo-to-recipe generations and saved recipes, as described on the Service at any given time. We may change these limits going forward.
  • Pro tier: unlimited generations and saves, recipe collections, the weekly meal planner, the smart shopping list, and weekly inspiration.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and we do not provide partial-period refunds except where required by law.
  • We may change subscription pricing or features. We will give you reasonable notice of any price increase before it applies to you.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • upload images you don't have the right to upload, or that depict illegal content;
  • use the Service to generate, store, or distribute unlawful, abusive, or infringing content;
  • attempt to circumvent free-tier limits, reverse-engineer the Service, or interfere with its normal operation (including automated scraping or excessive requests);
  • resell or provide commercial access to the Service without our written permission.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. AI-Generated Content and Accuracy

Recipes, dish identifications, ingredient lists, prep-time estimates, difficulty ratings, and calorie estimates are generated by an AI model based on the photo you provide. They are estimates and suggestions only:

  • Dish identification can be wrong, especially for ambiguous, low-quality, or unusual images.
  • Calorie counts and nutritional information are rough estimates and must not be treated as medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. If you have allergies, medical conditions, or dietary restrictions, verify ingredients and nutrition independently before cooking or eating.
  • Prep times and difficulty ratings are general estimates and may not match your situation, kitchen, or skill level.

You are solely responsible for how you use any recipe or information generated by the Service, including for food safety, allergens, and nutrition.

6. Your Content

You retain ownership of the photos you upload. By uploading a photo, you grant us a limited license to process it (including sending it to our AI provider) solely to generate a recipe and provide the Service to you. You represent that you have the right to upload and use any photo you submit.

You may delete recipes, collections, meal plans, and shopping lists you've created at any time from within the Service.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service — including its design, branding, software, and underlying technology — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers to operate, including Google (Firebase for authentication and data storage, and the Gemini AI model for recipe generation) and Stripe (payment processing). Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers' availability and terms.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated output will be accurate or suitable for your needs.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChefAI and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including any harm resulting from reliance on AI-generated recipes, ingredients, or nutritional estimates. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service, with notice where reasonably possible.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you (for example, by posting a notice on the Service or updating the "Last updated" date above). Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
