Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- Shredded mozzarella cheese for topping
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands.
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Brown the meatballs on all sides.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and water to the skillet.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through.
- Stir in chopped basil.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and garnish with fresh parsley.
- Serve hot.
